There’s one thing everyone assumes of me is that i love bacon. Its true that i do enjoy my share of bacon but because i know how bad it is, i actually do my best to limit the amount of it that i come into contact with. My sister didn’t help me out by bringing me some Skillet Bacon Spread from Skillet Street Food in Seattle.

I’ve been staring at it in the fridge for a few days wondering what to do with it. I opened the canister and checked out the bacon and fat concoction and was instantly grossed/turned on. The jar is filled with what appears to be bacon bits in some bacon fat and smells just of bacon.

My first experiment was just spreading it on some toast which is pretty hard to do when its just out of the fridge. It tasted ok, but i couldn’t get passed the bacon thought and couldn’t do it again. For my second experiment i tried cooking with it. I threw in the pan and started by cooking my onions in it for my breakfast eggs. It didn’t quite melt as fast as i thought it would and actually took some coaxing to get it to melt. Its actually quite light in flavor and adds just the right amount of salt. I like the idea of using it in replace of salt and oil and can’t wait to try stir frying it with some spinach.
